Board Briefing Template for a Governed AI Pilot

A copy-ready structure a champion can take to a board, partner group or senior sponsor.

Decision requested

Approve a fixed-scope AI Workflow Sprint to test whether a named workflow can be improved safely, measurably and under human review.

  • Name the workflow.
  • Name the business problem.
  • Name the current baseline.
  • Name the decision sponsor and process owner.

Safeguards

The briefing should show that governance has been considered before implementation starts.

  • No sensitive data in public AI tools unless explicitly approved.
  • No automated regulated decision.
  • Human review remains at the agreed point.
  • Outputs are logged and limitations documented.
  • Data samples are redacted or minimised where possible.

Expected outputs

The board should know exactly what evidence will exist at the end of the sprint.

  • Current-state workflow map.
  • Baseline and KPI note.
  • AI-assisted workflow or implementation design.
  • Governance and risk register.
  • ROI and scale recommendation.
