AI and data brokering FAQs

Questions to ask before your next AI or data decision.

Understand the services, the data opportunity and the decisions that stay with your business. These answers cover training, audits, implementation and AI data licensing.

Could our company data be worth six or seven figures?

Some buyers publish six- and seven-figure US-dollar licensing opportunities for qualifying datasets. This is market context, not a valuation or a promised result. Your offer, if any, depends on rights, quality, volume, uniqueness, buyer demand and due diligence. A business may receive a lower offer or no offer.

What does a data broker do?

We help describe the opportunity, identify potential buyers and coordinate introductions and commercial discussions. The buyer assesses the data and makes any offer. Your business and its advisers decide what can be shared and which terms to accept.

What types of company data might interest AI buyers?

Documented workflows, technical knowledge, project histories, process manuals and operational records may be relevant when your business has the necessary rights. Possessing information does not automatically give you permission to license it. Client confidentiality, personal information, intellectual property and contractual restrictions must be checked.

Are you an official Mercor, Handshake or micro1 partner?

The companies mentioned are examples of publicly advertised buyer programmes. Their inclusion does not imply an official partnership, endorsement, guaranteed introduction or acceptance of an Isle of Man business. We confirm the appropriate buyer route for each opportunity.

Do we need to upload data for an initial assessment?

No. Start with a high-level description of the business, systems and information you hold. Do not send client records, personal data, passwords or confidential files. Any later access or transfer needs an agreed scope and appropriate approval.

Do we sell the data or license it?

Many programmes use licensing agreements. Ownership, permitted uses, exclusivity, onward sharing, retention and deletion depend on the contract. Your legal and data-protection advisers should review the actual terms; anonymisation alone does not settle every obligation.

What does your data brokering service cost?

We agree any brokerage fees, referral arrangements, responsibilities and payment terms in writing before you commit. We explain relevant buyer-paid referral compensation so you can consider potential conflicts of interest.

Can smaller Isle of Man businesses qualify?

Buyer requirements vary. Some published programmes target established teams of 20 or more employees with several years of operating history. Smaller firms with distinctive, well-documented information may still warrant a conversation, but eligibility and geographic acceptance must be confirmed by the buyer.

Do staff need technical experience?

No. Introductory training is designed for people who use everyday business software. We agree the starting level and make room for practice and questions.

Can you deliver a private AI training workshop at our office?

Yes. We plan private workshops for Isle of Man businesses, subject to agreed dates, team size and facilities. Tell us the roles attending and the tools you want to use.

How much does business AI training cost?

We quote for the agreed audience, duration, preparation and follow-up. Send your team size and goals to request a scoped proposal; there is no published fixed course price.

What is the difference between an AI audit and a financial audit?

Our AI audit is a business readiness and opportunity assessment. It does not provide statutory assurance, financial audit services or regulatory certification.

Can you review AI tools we already use?

Yes. We can assess existing use, recurring costs, staff adoption, data handling and the evidence of value, then recommend improvements or consolidation.

Do we need to send you our data to start?

No. Start with a description of your workflows and systems. Any access to records or sample material must be scoped and agreed separately.

Can staff use public AI tools with client or customer data?

Not by default. The first step is to define data boundaries: public, internal, confidential, personal/client-sensitive or restricted. Sensitive workflows may need redaction, approved tooling or a private stack before live use.

Does the Workflow Sprint automate regulated decisions?

No. The sprint is designed around human review. AI may help prepare, retrieve, draft, summarise or structure work, but regulated judgement, client advice and final decisions stay with the accountable people.

How do you manage hallucination risk?

We start with constrained workflows, visible source material and review points. For knowledge retrieval, the preference is source-linked answers that staff can inspect rather than unsupported free-form output.

What evidence exists at the end of a sprint?

The team should have a current-state workflow map, baseline assumptions, a tested workflow or implementation design, risk notes, staff guidance and a recommendation to scale, improve, pause or stop.

Is this legal, compliance or data-protection advice?

No. AI Solutions IOM provides operational workflow, training, governance and implementation support. Legal, regulatory and data-protection advice should remain with the organisation's appointed advisers and accountable officers.

Can AI be used with confidential documents?

Sometimes, but the controls matter. The right answer may be a private knowledge workflow, access controls, audit logs, redaction, approved sample data or keeping the work out of public AI tools entirely.

How should a board or senior sponsor approve a pilot?

Approve a named workflow, owner, data boundary, human-review point, success measure and stop/go decision date. Avoid approving a vague AI pilot with no operational baseline.

Can grant funding be guaranteed?

No. Funding eligibility and approval must be checked with the relevant scheme at the time of use. The practical next step is to scope the business case clearly enough for a funding conversation if one is appropriate.

The wrong first move is too broad.

The safer first move is to choose one workflow, agree what data can be used, keep human review explicit, measure whether the work improves and stop if the evidence is weak.
